The development of edge and mobile computing components, such as single board computers (SBCs), has become essential for advancing robotics and automation solutions. At the forefront of this innovation is Barn Owl’s proprietary degree-of-freedom controller (dofC), which enables precise coordinated movement and control in robotic systems. Complementing this is the owl pico single board computer (SBC), built on the RP2040 microcontroller from the Raspberry Pi Foundation, delivering unique processing capabilities in a compact form factor. Additionally, FPGA controllers are increasingly utilized for demanding, time-critical operations, such as driving high-density LED displays via a HUB75 interface. Together, these components facilitate seamless integration of computational power directly at the edge, ensuring that robotic systems are not only responsive but also capable of sophisticated tasks in real-time.
